What data we collect
Bridgeport Navigator is designed to protect your privacy. We do not require personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email, or address to use the directory, and we never ask for your immigration status or Social Security number. Some features use data you provide: if you search, chat, or call, the words you type or say are logged briefly (see below). Texting is not yet available, and the demonstration form does not send or store your number.
What we do collect:
- Anonymous page views: which pages are visited (not who visits them)
- Anonymous feedback: when you mark a resource as helpful or not helpful
- Saved items: if you save resources, your entries are stored in your browser and optionally synced to our server using an anonymous identifier
- Search and chat: the words you type into search or the AI assistant are logged without your name, to help us find gaps in the directory. They are deleted after 90 days.
- Phone hotline: if you call our hotline, the call is handled by a voice service that creates a text transcript (without your name) to improve the service. It is deleted after 90 days.
Text messages (SMS): coming soon
Navigator Technologies LLC owns and operates Bridgeport Navigator and its BPT Navigator SMS Line. Carrier approval is pending, so no website or hotline text messages are being sent yet. Once activated, there will be two separate initial opt-in methods.
- On the website: you will first choose to text a resource. Only then will the phone field and a separate, unchecked SMS consent box appear.
- On the hotline: after finding a resource, you may ask for a text. The assistant will read the complete disclosure in English or Spanish and must receive a separate, clear yes before sending the resource to the mobile number you are calling from.
- Calling, asking about texting, or sending an inbound SMS keyword does not provide initial consent. Texting is optional and is not required to use the directory or hotline.
Once activated, each consent will cover only the requested resource message and at most one follow-up. Each additional resource will require new consent. We will record the consent source, version, and time and, for hotline requests, the call identifier. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. We will not sell or share your number, and will delete linked consent data within 90 days.
Third-party services
- Vercel: hosts our application and provides basic analytics
- Supabase: stores resource data (not personal data)
- Anthropic (Claude): processes chat and phone assistant queries
- Vapi: powers the phone hotline (voice-to-text)
- Twilio: will send requested messages after texting is activated and will enforce STOP and START instructions
- Resend: sends email when you use the contact or suggestion forms
- Sentry: monitors technical errors (no personal data)
Data retention
Saved data is stored in your browser and can be deleted at any time by clearing your browser data. Search/chat words and call transcripts are deleted after 90 days. Once texting is activated, phone numbers, consent records, and data linked to requests will also be deleted after 90 days. Page views are anonymous and kept in aggregate.
